Hi Bean!
I've been reading in my Circle Round book from the goddess/pagan tradition (by Starhawk). And I came across this explanation which is fairly simple, but I liked it anyways.
Eostar is a joyful holiday, centered around symbols of rebirth and growth: eggs, seeds, baby animals. But Eostar also has a deeper meaning. Because this is the time of balance between dark and light, it is also the time when we examine all kinds of balance in our lives - in particular, the balance of life and death. Birth is a time when the gate between the worlds are open. The seeds that were buried in the ground return as new shoots. Bulbs sprout and flower. and the dead return from the other world as new beings.
The equinox begins the season of planting. We prepare the ground and sow the seeds - if only in pots on our window sills to be planted outdoors when the ground warms up.
At the winter solstice, the sun is reborn; at Eostar, the earth is reborn. All life awakens as the days grow longer.
I REALLY like thinking about the earth as reborn. Great image, it makes me want to go dig in the dirt. Which I just may do!!!
Love you, off to bed. xoxo Ali W

Al, I think we are both in that "rebirth, new growth" mindset these days. Check out my challenge to you above! :)
